01 _ About the Event

49th Congress of the Internacional Viola Society 2024

We at ABRAV are very happy to be chosen to host the 49th IVS Congress in 2024! It will be the first time this important event will take place in South America, hosted at Unicamp, Campinas/SP in July 2024.

The theme of the Congress is: “Celebrating the fusion of cultures  a world of viola music”. The Congress will invite a small number of individuals to present performances and masterclasses; all other events will be scheduled exclusively by selection through this proposal submission process.

Pittsburgh Symphony and Carnegie Melon University, USA

and pianist/composer André Mehmari, one of Brazil’s leading creative and performing musicians

Jennifer Stumm

USA

will perform with her group Ilumina and pianist André Mehmari in the final concert

Jutta Puchhammer

Austria/Canada

will perform two viola concertos accompanied by the Jundiai Symphony Orchestra in the opening concert

Renato Bandel

Brazil

will perform Ernst Mahle’s concertino with Unicamp’s Symphony Orchestra

Georgina Rossi

Chile

will perform a viola and piano recital with works from Brazilian and Chilean composers
